Michael Hand
Golf has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. What started as afternoons at our family cottage quickly turned into a lifelong passion for the game and the process of getting better. Those early years taught me that golf isn’t just about talent—it’s about dedication, patience, and how well your body allows you to perform.
As I got older, golf followed me everywhere. I spent years working as a Yogi at Hidden Lake Golf & Country Club, where I was fortunate to be surrounded by serious golfers and a competitive environment that helped shape my own game. At the same time, I continued to compete in multiple sports, eventually becoming a varsity athlete at McMaster University, where I graduated in 2014. Alongside golf, I played baseball at the university level and grew up playing hockey and basketball—experiences that gave me a deep appreciation for athletic movement, strength, and resilience.
Through competing and training at a high level, I began to notice a common issue among golfers: many were being held back not by their swing, but by their bodies. Pain, limited mobility, inconsistency, and lack of power were preventing players from reaching their potential. That realization sparked my passion for physical training and how it could be applied specifically to golf.
Today, as a Certified Personal Trainer and TPI Certified Golf Trainer, my mission is simple—to help golfers move better, play stronger, and stay healthy for the long term. I believe golf fitness should be purposeful, individualized, and directly connected to the swing. Every program I design is built to improve how you move, how you swing, and how you feel on the course.
At OnCourse Fitness & Tour Performance Golf Academy , I don’t just train golfers—I help them become better athletes so they can enjoy the game longer, perform at a higher level, and play with confidence every time they step onto the course.
Why did you get into coaching?
Golf has always been a constant in my life and something I’ve always loved. I saw firsthand how much better the game becomes when the body is trained properly. My background in multiple sports and strength training led me to specialize in golf fitness, helping golfers move better, swing more consistently, increase distance, and play pain-free.
Today, I combine proven training principles with TPI methodology to build stronger, more athletic golfers.
